This website, found under the www.birdinthehand.me URL, is operated by Bird in the Hand and references to “we”, “us”, “our” and “the company” shall be deemed to be referenced to Bird in the Hand Ltd. References to “you”, “your” “customer” and “client” shall be deemed to be referenced to the person or company placing an order.
Please read through these terms and conditions carefully before placing your order. By using this website and/or placing an order with us, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below. We may change these terms from time to time without notice to you. Changes will apply to any subsequent orders received. Once your order has entered our dispatching process, we will not be able to make any changes.
Our products are made by hand, small imperfections / differences in shape, size and colour can happen and are part of the charm of a handmade product. This part of the handmade process is what makes our products unique and should not be seen as a fault. They will never affect the overall aesthetic of the product and its ability for use as intended.
Due to our base cloth being made from natural linen there can be a variance in colour from batch to batch. Our fabrics are made from natural products and may thus have natural characteristics such as slubs and other irregularities in the yarns, which are not weaving faults and therefore not considered faults by us as a company.
Whilst we make every effort to ensure that colours correspond to our samples, slight variances may occur, every run is individual and variations in actual goods may occur.
Our fabrics are not guaranteed against colour fading. Direct sunlight is not recommended and lining and interlining is strongly recommended when using our fabrics for curtains and blinds.
Dry Cleaning is recommended for our fabrics. Up to 5% shrinkage can be expected.
No liability will be accepted for changes in appearance, performance, or defects in any of our fabrics if they are treated after purchase by applying or processing of any kind, including flame proofing or the application of stain repelling treatments.
Goods must be carefully inspected prior to cutting. Once cut or trimmed, we cannot accept any fabric returns.
Our ceramics are happily dishwasher proof and suitable for food.
Each piece is handmade by Laura, all individual with variations in size, shape and colour, in particular if it is a piece made with reclaimed clay this will increase the potential for variation, adding to this unique quality.
Please allow 6-7 days delivery time for products in stock and 10-12 weeks making time plus 4 days delivery time for items not in stock.

Prices do not include carriage, freight, insurance or any import taxes and are subject to alteration without notice.
Deliveries to Third parties:
Where deliveries are made to third parties (curtain makers, upholsterers, decorators etc) on the instructions of the customer, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the correct product is received. Mistakes in labeling can happen. Once cut or handed onto a third party we cannot accept responsibility for any errors which occasionally do occur. Also, no claims will be accepted in respect of any cost making up.
Return goods will not be accepted without prior agreement. A 20% handling fee, plus any carriage costs, will be deducted from the credit.
All orders are dealt with on an individual basis. We are unable to supply any goods on a sale or return basis and all orders are accepted on receipt of full payment by pro forma. All items are subject to availability. We will inform you as soon as possible if the goods you have ordered are not available
CANCELLING AN ORDER
Whilst every effort will be made to accept the cancellation this can only happen if the cancellation is made prior to any cutting or printing of fabric or making of ceramics. If cutting or production has begun then a 50% deposit will be kept.
For bespoke products, cancellation is not possible if the product has already gone into production.
All cancellations should be made in writing.
